The von Trapp Family’s Real Immigration Story

Presentation by William Anderson

Saturday, November 15

1:00 p.m.

2025 marks the 60th anniversary of the classic movie ‘The Sound of Music”. The film is the story of Austria’s Trapp Family Singers and their escape from their Nazi-occupied homeland in 1938. With parallels between today’s immigrant situation and the von Trapp's struggles gaining asylum in America, Michigan author, William Anderson, tells how the family shared their culture in America and founded a new Vermont home. Anderson is the author of 30 books of history and biography, including The World of the von Trapp Family and V is for von Trapp.
