This classic two-hour movie stars Matthew Broderick as Robert Gould Shaw, who volunteers to lead the U.S. Civil War's first all-black volunteer company, fighting prejudices from both his own Union Army, and the Confederates. Also starring Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington, who won an Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of Private Tripp.
